Broadcasting a message over erasure channels with cooperating receivers

چکیده
In this paper we consider the orthogonal cooperative broadcast channel with a common message. The downlink and cooperation channels are modelled by erasure channels and assumed to be orthogonal. We derive an achievable rate for this channel by using a combination of decode-and-forward and estimate-and-forward and considering both symmetric and asymmetric cooperation. These schemes are based on a two-step cooperation. It is shown under which conditions the proposed achievable rate coincides with the considered upper bound that is in fact the interpretation of the traditional cut-set bound in the context of broadcast cooperative erasure channels. Moreover we propose a time-sharing-based iterative coding scheme with more than two cooperation steps.

Real-time delay with network coding and feedback
We consider the problem of minimizing delay when broadcasting over erasure channels with feedback. A sender wishes to communicate the same set of μ messages to several receivers. The sender can broadcast a single message or a combination of messages at each timestep, through separate erasure channels. Receivers provide feedback as to whether the transmission was received. If, at some time step,...
متن کاملSecure Communication in Erasure Networks with State-feedback
The security and efficiency of communication are two of the main concerns for networks of today and the future. Our understanding of how to efficiently send information over various channels and networks has significantly increased in the past decade (see e.g., [1–3]), whereas our understanding of how to securely send information has not yet reached the same level. In this thesis, we advance th...
متن کاملCapacity Bounds for State-Dependent Broadcast Channels
In this paper, we derive information-theoretic performance limits for three classes of two-user state-dependent discrete memoryless broadcast channels, with noncausal side-information at the encoder. The first class of channels comprises a sender broadcasting two independent messages to two non-cooperating receivers; for channels of the second class, each receiver is given the message it need n...
متن کاملA Class of Feedback-based Coding Algorithms for Broadcast Erasure Channels with Degraded Message Sets
We consider single-hop broadcast erasure channels (BEC) with degraded message sets and instantaneous feedback regularly available from all receivers, and demonstrate that the main principles of the virtual queue-based algorithms in [1], which were proposed for multiple unicast sessions, can still be applied to this setting and lead to capacityachieving algorithms. Specifically, we propose a gen...
متن کاملCommunication over an Unknown Channel via Common Broadcasting
In this study we consider the problem of communication over an unknown channel. Some new concepts for the broadcast channel, which can model unknown channels, are introduced and a collection of problems related to universal communication are investigated. The novel concepts for the broadcast channel we introduce, are focused on scenarios where the same, common information should be transmitted ...
